| I was encouraged and dispirited in equal measure by the meeting, encouraged by the passion and humour shown by the objectors, but dispirited by the bland evasion of the responses of the developer and architects. Whilst it was great to see the hall quite full for the meeting, the estimated 250 people who were there can still only be a small percentage of Brentford residents who stand to be affected, for better or worse, by the development. So I wondered what the level of awareness of the development was amongst Brentford people in general? I don't read local papers, but it's only been in the last 3 months that I've been truly aware of the plan and its progress and implications. Does more need to be done to publicize the issues and to ensure the community has its say? |
