One lady made the same point as I had made previously on this site, ie that the commentary to the planning app made a lot of the historical reference but the buildings did not reflect this. Although I thought the meeting went really well, was well chaired and good natured I can see why developers do not like such meetings, a sort of mob mentality takes over and opinions become very polarised. It is very difficult for the architects to explain complex concepts in brief answers. I mean no disrespect to the questioners and agreed with many of the points made but am not sure how the meeting helped to find the consensus on density, height, layout, content and detailed design which will be needed to get a scheme agreed. The scheme will happen, if the council fail to agree an acceptable scheme with Ballymore it will go to appeal and with Boris backing will be agreed over our heads. A recent article in the Guardian about Nine Elms was quite kind about Ballymore. http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/2012/nov/11/nine-elms-south-bank-regeneration?INTCMP=ILCNETTXT3487 . Finally well done to to the editor for her detailed report...... |
