Regarding the charges for owning your own torch, to me the mere fact you can buy such a thing is a sad reflection of how materialistic society has become. 

If I had the honour of carrying the Olympic flame, that honour and the memories associated with it through photos, video coverage etc. would be all that mattered to me, I wouldn't want my own torch given it's not the real thing etc.

If people are idiotic/gullible enough to pay for such things then let them.
