Philip, What about Lord Paul the Labour Peer who has been more than adequately rewarded by Gordon Brown, initially he was given a knighthood, after funding "gordy's Selection Campaign" he was made a peer if that was not enough to say thank you "gordy" then made him a Privy Coucillor the highest honour anyone can get, now this is for MP's Bishop's and the like, Judges or someone who has done something really exceptional for the country the only thing Lord Paul has ever done is to fund GB selection campaign and also promise additional funding for the up and coming election. Lord Ashcroft kept to his agreement of residing here for 1 year after accepting his peerage which he did so, he has continued to pay tax on monies earned and accrued within the UK he does not owe one penny he also does not claim expenses when attending the House of Lords, Lord Paul's earning on last year's expenses were 97800 Pounds plus and then plus 40000 pounds expense fiddle for claiming to live in a flat that he never ever visited(his admission)Lord Ashcroft pays the appropriate taxes to the countries where he does business the same as one would think Lord Paul does, again Lord Paul's admission that at the start of this coming tax year he would be paying full tax here on his business's abroad so how much money would you say he owes us the tax payer, incidentally for a man who had questions asked about his company pension fund in Parliament you would have thought that "gordy" would have known better. Quite frankly if the governemnt could have proved a case against Lord Ashcroft he would now be residing in prison the Labourites hate him so much for taking the government to court for libel and winning against them. |
