"Mary Macleod has never received any money directly from Lord Ashcroft. She has naturally received some funding from Conservative HQ..." Yes, and that money is funded by the Tory Central Office target seats trategy - which is managed (and funded) by Lord Baron Ashcroft of Belize. Newspaper reports have indicated that Mary Macleod has received around £20,000 from Ashcroft, in addition to £10,000 from Lord Laidlaw (who lives in a tax haven in Monaco) and £2,000 from off-shore investment firm Flowidea. "Ann Keen MP (at the moment)has a £10,000 communication allowance..." Not true. The CA was abolished last year. Even when it was operative, it could only be used for communication/information purposes, and not to promote a party political line. "...plus monies from non- dom Lord Paul Privy Councillor and Co..." Again, not true. Ann Keen has received £0 of funding from Lord Paul and other non doms. "...and perhaps as much as £500,000 profit from her Waterloo nest- egg; again publicly funded." Now you're just being silly. Is Mary Macleod going to flog off her expensive Chiswick property to help fund her campaign? Of course not. As for it being "publicly funded" we are all, in effect, financing Mary Macloed's campaign, because the shortfall in the tax which Lord Baron Ashcroft gets out of paying has to be made up by the rest of us. |
