But the government can’t keep taxing and spending as it does. It’s an economic death loop.
It might be fashionable to say tax the rich, but those people who are super wealthy simply move that money abroad. There is a trickle down effect because they do employ people for all manner of jobs - cleaners, gardeners, builders, etc - and when the wealthy go those jobs go too. They also tend to spend money where they live.
As for the mansion tax? I personally know two households that will be affected by this because they live in homes worth well over the threshold. The irony is that both households are NHS employees and are handsomely paid by the state. Do you not think they might be overpaid? |
