Roger Foreman explained "As a former long term resident of Acton, I remember Arthur's used car lot was at one time on the south side of Vale" I believe that was also used for Dick Meyer's car lot in "Big Deal" the series about a poker player starring Roy Brooks and Sharon Duce. "Big Deal" was filmed almost exclusivly around Acton. Gils betting shop was actaully a branch of the Arthur Prince chain, (owned by Michael Tabor) which was in a row of shops beneath a block of flats in Hanbury Rd the South Acton Estate, and now demolished. While Bobby Box's mum had a stall in Acton Market. The first series of "Big Deal" is available on DVD courtesy of the BBC michael adams |
