| Not quite sure what Alex thinks councils should be doing to educate people. We put out a lot of messages about this and engage with schools etc and we're just kicking off with the Great British Spring Clean in partnership with Keep Britain Tidy. This is partly to clear up some hot spots but it's also partly to raise awareness. As to McDonalds, KFC not being responsible for litter, and cleaning up around their premises: I hope KFC are better than McDonalds (who make extravagant claims about their corporate responsibility and how they do litter picking, but do diddly squat in Brentford even after I have written not only to their UK MD but their global CEO) or the erstwhile Brentford Tandoori: when I remonstrated about them sweeping out their rubbish - mainly fag ends etc - on to the pavement they said it was the council's problem. |
