But who's fault is that George ?. Just to be clear from the outset, I have a professional interest in this site and many other KFC's and Taco Bells as I obtain planning permission for many of their sites all over the country. The litter issue isn't the fault of the operators, be they KFC, McDonalds, Joe Bloggs Fish and Chips, the issue is the fault of a minority of Joe Public. I see it all the time, in all kinds of environments, not just outside fast food shops, when people who can't be bothered to hang onto their litter until they find a bin or can't even be bothered to use a bin when they're almost next to it. Everyday when I lived in Brentford and walked towards Kew Bridge there would be litter on the pavement or in the verges, and it wasn't anymore litter from the McDonalds on Ealing Road than it was from Sainsburys or any other premises. I know first hand how KFC as a company work to address litter problems, carrying out regular litter picks of the immediate surroundings etc, including of course the litter that is nothing to do with them, but because they're a fast food operator they'll always be blamed for an issue that they can't do any more to address. It's the same when you go to a park after a weekend, inevitably there's litter scattered all over the place because a sizable minority of Joe Public are morons. |
