One of the problems is that they do not issue joint Blue badges. Many Blue badge holders are too disabled to drive. Full time carers (usually the spouse) often have to leave them at home to do shopping and errands and often are elderly and limited themselves. When you hear of 80 year old carers being penalised for using their husbands or wives blue badge to get necessities it is shameful. Very different from those who are quite able to carry out all the things that the rest of us do and yet have a badge. We do though have to remember that not all disabilities are obvious and not all those who look after them 24-7 are paid. |
