The streets were littered as irresponsible people dropped their cigarette boxes, crisp bags, red bull cans etc etc.

Good news - our lovely lady street cleaner came along and faithfully cleaned up all the litter  left the area spotless (as she does time and time again)

Bad news - the next day the recycling team arrived and faithfully dropped considerable papers and cardboard whilst making feeble attempts to empty contents of our green boxes onto the lorry.

Result. The area looks like a tip again thanks to the recycling team. Unless some good citizen (i.e. me and / or my wife) faithfully clean up after the recycling team, the area will look like scumsville for another two weeks. However, next week the Plastics team will arrive and faithfully drop loads of plastics as they haphazardly and lethargically try to empty the white bags onto their lorry.....and so the saga continues every week, every month, every year.

The answer to have a reasonably streets:
Campaign to scrap green boxes, blue bags, white bags, food bins etc and tell everyone to place EVERYTHING in the Wheelie Bins which are machine lifted into the truck so that NOTHING is left scattered across our streets. The humans simply take no pride so may as well let the machines do the job properly?
