| I think that the rules of the Labour Group nowadays mean the Leader is a fixture for the life of a council, 4 years. I don't think that would prevent anyone putting forward a vote of no confidence, and at the very least the Tories could have caused maximum embarrassment and publicity to Curran, perhaps they could even have requested that he apologise to Mr.Slattery. Just sitting on the side-lines and making out that there's nothing the opposition can do doesn't wash, if the political will is there it's surprising what you can do. |
