There's an interesting article here on the front page: http://www.brentfordtw8.com/default.asp?section=info&page=planning018.htm The first paragraphs read: "The 2011 census gave the populations of Brentford and Syon wards at 28,000. These two wards stretch roughly from Brent Lea to Chiswick Roundabout. "As the tables (Current Development in Brentford) show, if every current application for planning permission was built we would have an additional 14,000 people (approximately). This represents an increase of 50% of the population." In actual fact Syon ward stretches much further than Brent Lea, it goes as far as St. John's Road in Isleworth. This means that the current population of Brentford (as of 2011) will be less than 28,000 as this figure includes a substantial chunk of Isleworth (probably some 6-7,000 people). So if the population of Brentford is potentially to increase by 14,000 that figure represents substantially more than 50% of its current size. It would be nice to think that those entrusted with the task of granting - or not granting - planning permission to these proposed developments will be mindful of the possible effect on the infrastructure of the town when taking these decisions. |
