Quite true. If it goes into the High Street shopping area, it will be competing for all too few car parking spaces and lose the key sole bus link from Richmond Kew and Ealing. One has only visit Watermans on an afternoon to see how many car loads of senior citizens turn up. It's often bringing people who are not up to the bus and get a lift from friends. This is why so many elderly end up being the victims of CPZs getting cut off from the diminishing peer group who still have good mobility as they are afraid of a ticket they cannot afford and often can't afford visitors permits. This is why all over 70's should have a free parking permit and all over 70 non car owning residents should have visitors vouchers free. It's all these little normal things that seem to be incomprehensible to planners, developers and politicians . |
