I see the "consultation summary" on the proposed closure has appeared on the website at : http://www.hounslow.gov.uk/proposed_closure_80_stjohns_road_summary.pdf Amazing response rate ! To quote the "common themes" : Common themes The list below identifies common issues that were raised by most or all stakeholder groups. Issues raised: 1. St John’s is a valued local resource and a focal point for the local community. It is well used and suitable alternative facilities are not available nearby. 2. Group members would find it difficult to continue their attendance if the new location was not local to them. Journey times would be longer and the costs of travel would be higher. 3. The closure would impact on vulnerable adults, the disabled and children the most. 4. The sale of this building will not make savings and is not justified. It does not cost the council to maintain this building as it is run by volunteers. 5. This building should not be sold for redevelopment because it is an historical building which cannot be replaced. 6. The council could reduce the impact of closing 80 St John’s if affordable alternative local accommodation was found for the current user groups that had equivalent facilities, transport links and parking. |
