In the interests of lowering housing and other costs in the London area and getting rid of the economically idle, why not require all economically inactive over-65s to relocate at least 50 miles out of London and ban commuting from beyond 30 miles of the centre? Benefits:- 1) Large number of under-occupied houses put up for sale in London, lowering house prices permanently 2)Release capacity on London Transport (no need for so much Tube investment, cancel Crossrail etc)as Freedom Pass no longer required 3) Lower costs for care - homes all now outside high cost London area 4) Scope to abolish London Weighting as housing costs fall, commuting distances reduced etc. 5) Buck House could become dormitories for low wage Central London workers as high cost present occupants relocated north Once we get our heads around it, they are no limits to social engineering. |
