Not off-topic at all Stephanie, and absolutely no need to apologise. I share your revulsion entirely at the apparent disregard that Robin and others of his ilk seem to have for the victims of US-led military aggression in Iraq, and also in Afghanistan. This is hardly some borderline judgement call like a percentage point on or off VAT, we are talking about a military invasion, wholesale slaughter and pointless waste of thousands of innocent lives, including the deaths of many young British service people, in the name of a bare-faced lie by the then Prime Minister. Of course Ann Keen's career is much more important than any of those people, their loved ones, families or anybody else' lives have been shattered by these events and thus she follows faithfully the Party Line and people like Robin venerate and hero-worship her for doing so. Ironically, when I spoke out against US/British military policy in Iraq and Afghanistan during a debate at Borough Council I was congratulated after the meeting by a Labour councillor with whom Robin claims to be good friends. The councillor in question is such a decent, honest, honourable and likable man. What they feel they have in common goodness only knows. |
