While there may be no reported incidents in Brentford or Chiswick - which doesn’t mean to say that there have been none - the policy of TfL is zero deaths or injuries on London’d roads by 2040. Clearly creating something that is a potential hazard contradicts this policy, especially if the number of cyclists increases significantly and, more worryingly, if the proportion of speeding e-bikes grows. There are verbal and written warnings for passengers on buses on Chiswick High Road about the danger posed by the bike lane there, so it’s obviously a concern. As for the bus stop opposite Waterman’s, that’s another classic case of poor design and implementation. The shelter doesn’t protect from the sun, particularly relevant at the moment and no seating for anyone. It’s big enough for a bench seat but apparently that would detract from the advertising hoardings behind. Money before function it seems. |
