Thanks Philippa for that link.  While on the subject of elderly people.  Why on earth does the local council, Hounslow, make it so very difficult to renew a Blue Badge? The 28 odd pages to get a Blue Badge in the first place is daunting enough, I'm not daft but I had to get a helpful person at the GPs to fill my pages, as did my elderly neighbour.   The GPs  had to do the same when I recently had to renew it!   Now my neighbour of 94, is in the same positiom - 28 odd pages to renew her Blue Badge!   In addition to the original walking difficulties for which she got her Blue Badge, she now has a serious heart condition.   Why on earth do either of us have to fill in a complete set of 28 pages for the renewal?  At 94 she's hardly going to improve her mobility and I at over 80 have an incurable disease which is not magically going to disappear!   This an utter waste of paper, postage and effort by a Council supposedly struggling to make ends meet - where the hell is the common sense???
