To be a shop assistant I would have thought you need say three years training. Languages how to interact with customers computer systems accounting. We just dont take our training seriously. I was talking to a young man in a French hotel whom I noticed had done some lighting on the cabaret before dinner. Then I saw him on reception. Next he was playing a guitar among other things. He was on a hotel management course. He said he was glad to be on it as he only spoke five languages. The course was five years. On the radio a presenter was saying he was waiting for lady to serve him but she was busy talking to her friend about their phones and this was in a big store in London. I was with my wife in a shop and a lady wanted to buy a dress at nearly £200.00. The assistant said that she could not get the security tag off and the owner was at lunch so could she come back in half an hour? I would have thought we need training for such a critical job as a sales facilitator! |
