But Bunnings have, as has been heavily publicised, recently sold the remaining stores for £1, so now there's going to be a second wave of closures as Dan alludes to. A couple of months back I was at a planning committee meeting and the application before ours related to a Bunnings store and it's rather mind boggling how, despite clearly being in the mess that they were, Bunnings were still throwing money at former Homebase stores having already spent a small fortune of rebranding etc. Saying that, given the hard time the application got from some Councillors without much justification there'd be a degree of karma if that particular site was redeveloped by way of something that really did genuinely cause nuisance. As for the potential for the Homebase on Great West Road to be redeveloped it really hasn't got much potential due to being designated employment/industrial land, otherwise several of my clients would be very keen... |
