To be honest the health properties, or not, of Lucozade isn't the issue - but I agree that masses of advertising is undesirable along the GWR. However, the Lucozade sign is iconic for this part of London and people who want to interfere with that should be resisted. As Adam says it's all about the dosh sadly.
