| Gosh, thank you everybody for your wonderful replies, never did I think my question would have been answered so comprehensively. I honestly can't thank you all enough for taking the time to reply to my question. Currently my husband and I rent storage space as a very small business selling catering equipment at 'Space Maker'- or the 'New Pyrene building' as we now know it (thanks to Eric). When we moved there over a year ago the first thing I asked the manager was 'what was this building originally?' It has bugged me ever since, and thanks to you all I am now much wiser. So....now we know the building was originally part of Pyrene, built mid 1950's, sometime later it was a carpet warehouse...am I pushing it to ask what happened in between? Jim, the photos you post are fantastic, I am almost certain that the the best days of the 'Great West Road' are long gone- but, it's just lovely to have a glimpse of the history and imagine what life must have been like.
