Keith, try driving back into Brentford at 17.30 on weekdays using either Twickenham Road/London Road from Isleworth or Kew Road from Kew. From Isleworth there's a long queue to turn right at Busch Corner during to the absurd reconfiguration of the lights, with a absurdly long green for traffic heading straight on but a very short green period for the right hand filter. From Richmond via Kew Road the queues are often, like last night, backed up from the traffic lights just on the north side of Kew Bridge to long before the main entrance to Kew Gardens. The only way for me to get home by car avoiding queues is to stay on the A316 over Chiswick Bridge to Hartington Road (another junction where the traffic light reconfiguration favours the smaller, less used road as opposed to the busy A316), then drive through the narrow streets of Thames Road etc. and then straight across 'suicide junction' at the north side of Kew Bridge. But hey, it's only leading to more traffic using narrow residential streets, it's only increasing the risk of accidents, seemingly that's all fine...(apologies for ending in a rant but am sick of the absurdity of such problems getting home in the middle of summer when traffic is otherwise light - 20 minutes to get to work (going out of the Borough), 40 minutes to get home (re-entering the Borough). Hence why I still think TfL have made a completely unnecessary dogs dinner of it all... |
