| Thanks Phil for this information - much appreciated. There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever that had this application been refused or deferred, Thames Water could and would have obtained approval within minutes to use shareholder money to cover the remaining tanks. The cost of £3 to £4 million is peanuts compared to the additional profit the company will make because of the expansion. Not to mention the fines which would be imposed if the company doesn't meet EA and EC directives. LBH has now handed to Thames Water on a plate a very real prospect of massive return at huge cost to this community and zero investment from the Macquarie Group Investment Bankers (Owners of Thames Water). The company is laughing literally all the way to the Bank! Little surprise that Thames fought vehemently to keep the application within Hounslow Borough and no surprise that they won't move the mismanaged site to Surrey or Berks. They wouldn't have such an easy ride anywhere else in the Country (or the world). As you know, in Singapore they were told to cover the whole site or get out - so they covered the site!! |
