GSK were thwarted by John Prescott's restriction on Parking for employees which was less than the old Beecham House and its other local locations had.

Whilst S106 refurbished the station, other public transport has not changed since the opening of the GSK HQ.  Problem is GSK employs people from everywhere and the myopic ideal of factory at bottom of the road that employs 100% local people is long gone.  The conundrum has been the constant difficulty of getting to and from the place for the great many who do not live along the reach of reliable mass transit.

Now with work from home those who had a struggle to get to GSK jumped at the chance and facilities with ample parking are now heavily utilised. The high cost of the site with it's staff inadequacies and failing productivity made it a no brainer for a corporate decision.

It's a shame the concealed underground car park did not happen. At weekends and evenings it could have relieved the chaos of Bee home games and local events might get better footfall.

But full time housing?  Ealing and Brentford are already seriously overpopulated and with meagre facilities, Parks being turned into flood relief sites or wilded which reduced further affordable sport for all. Less and less facilities for children, homes with no private outdoor space, overloaded health services and schools overloaded with too many challenges to offer the full potential of the staffing.

With limitations being imposed on freedom of movement and public transport getting slower and less reliable from endless delays and capacity problems - exemplified that it is near impossible to get a seat on the vast Elizebeth Line trains as they are now full before Hayes, a fixation on 15 min localities then proper quality jobs and work facilities have to be top of the list.

The number of workplaces, particularly for very small, small and expanding businesses and manufacturing in particular has diminished with many falling foul of space and redevelopment and others from the ridiculous high costs.  Even council owned facilities are at 'Market Rents'.

With none of the above in place there is no quality of life to offer. Just an endless grind and life in a claustrophobic utopia.  Anyone who has spent more than a fw months working or living in Mumbai or Hong Kong or even Singapore will know that the vibrancy, excitement and fun soon wears off.
