I'm reluctantly joining this forum after getting increasingly frustrated by the worsening travel situation and lack of accountability of our elected representatives. It seems pretty clear that we will get no resolution to these problems whilst the current lot are in charge - indeed it is their aim to make road travel as difficult as possible for ordinary people - witness the latest posting from Guy Lambert who admits to taking no notice of postings to this forum just as he ignored the results of the original LTN consultation which comprehensively rejected the proposals. In his rather smug comments in the past, he seems to find the chaos and misery caused by the council's road closures as rather amusing. The borough-wide traffic gridlock is disproportionally affecting poorer and minority families who rely on cars and buses for work, shopping and childcare - it is not possible to shop for a family of five by bicycle. The only winners of the road closures are white, middle-class male cyclists. Like Lambert. Did anyone ever use elected office to further their own interests at the expense of the majority of their constituents? It is clear that our voices will be continued to be ignored by our council and the false narrative continually repeated that some silent majority are somehow happy about this completely avoidable traffic chaos, when the opposite is clearly true. The only solution is to vote out these people at the first opportunity. |
