| If you block off roads and throw in some roadworks you will always create congestion. What’s noticeable is that the actual number of vehicles in the jams isn’t that great, but the time taken to get through a bottleneck is inordinately long, which gives the impression of ‘too many cars’ ((c) London Cycling Cult). This is all grist to the mill of overzealous numpties at the councils and TfL and gives them impetus to impose ever more draconian ‘solutions’. Strangely, as soon as the works disappear, so does the congestion. Anyone living in this area knows that. Lambert, of course, doesn’t live here so simply guesses at what goes on. |
