The decimation of local papers has undoubtedly undermined democracy. When did you last read anything that put difficult questions to local politicians? Instead you get sites like this where the incumbent councillor gets to peddle his propaganda week in, week out, without any balancing from other political viewpoints.

What’s really funny is so many people get cross about the likes of Donald Trump and his fake news nonsense, but can’t see what happens in the neighbourhoods in which they live when it comes to getting the truth.
