| Children gain more road sense from walking and not being chauffered everywhere as some would like to do. There are a lot of children who scoot on the pavements accompanied by parents or carers. However it is up to parents and carers to actually set the agenda here and make the time to do this and it is important part of giving children more independence step by step -AND- time to talk to your children (if you aren't on your mobile). That's why there is a campaign 'Meet with a Smile and Not a Mobile'. There wouldn't be a problem of 'helicopter parenting' if it didn't exist. |
