There are some appalling drivers as well. Quite how some pass tests is worrying. I would like to see two fundamental changes made. A time limit on L plate provisional moped riders licence validity with a mandatory test at 12 months. The 12 months commencing with insurance cover. If using a Moped for commercial use then that should be at 6 months. It's become heavily abused. For the Advanced driving test to become mandatory after 5 years or at least fully recognised with a clear and open insurance benefit. And a few changes into what passing the test entails. Currently you have to remain a member of the Institute to retain your validity. Passing should be added to a rating on your driving licence. Personally, I passed it decades ago and it was brilliant for ironing out bad habits that creep in, and using the experience of road use to enhance extra skills. Effectively it keeps you on your toes. |
