Don't understand why you should think a lower speed will give lower emmissions. It is just the opposite. Cars have to run in lower gears, but rev higher. Pollution is increased quite substantially by driving slower. Even worse if you have to drive over speed bumps. Then the car has to accelerate and brake, which are the worse times for polluting fumes to be produced. If the car dosen't get you at speed, it'll get you through pollution. Another thought is that concentrating on keeping to certain speeds whether MPH of KPH does take your mind and attention off the road ! |
