There's not a lampost in the borough without one of these plastic poppies hanging off it. It's complete overkill. Red poppies should be a personal symbol of remembrance if that is what people want. They should not be forced on to the community as has happened here. Who put these up, how much did it cost and when the poppies are taken down will they be recycled? Surely it would have been much better to donate the money that this cost straight to ex-servicemens' charities. My father who was Mayor of Hounslow and served his time fron 1939-45 would have been appalled by this. What a complete waste of money.
