Local Conservatives are not quiet. Jim Lawes and myself are both local Conservatives and Councillor Peter Thompson, leader of the Conservative Group on Hounslow Council has spoken eloquently on the murky issues surrounding the Labour Group on Hounslow Council. The Hounslow, Brentford and Isleworth Conservative Association and its counterpart in Feltham and Heston is a democratic and autonomous political association run by officers and executive committees democratically elected by and answerable to their own members. There are no skeletons in the cupboards of the local Conservative Associations. But the local Labour parties have many problems and have refused to say why they have both been placed in Special Measures by Labour Head office. Only 14 local Labour parties are in Special Measures out of over 650 nationally and 2 of them are in the London Borough of Hounslow. One more is in neighbouring Ealing Southall. |
