It is simply ghastly and something akin to Wembley central in 1960s A few arches and cornices is simply curry sauce over a rancid chicken. Almost all the extra retail & catering capacity in all the new developments remain unlet and screened off. Some of them are in locations that will never work as retail or restaurants. It's similar in lots of other areas not just here. Much of the existing riverside developments are nearing 10 years old and are ghost towns, devoid of atmosphere and community even with a few decent restaurants which judging by the succession of management changes are not faring too well. In 1977 there was a Silver Jubilee decree to open up the river thames for public access throughout Greater London. This happened in a lot of places bit by bit Hammersmith to Chiswick being part of that. What happened to that initiative? |
