I know computers and online 'services' are now the way of the world but bloody hell - they drive me crazy. I spent hours the day before yesterday trying to negotiate L.B. Hounslow's online library system, which changed with the change of management, all I wanted to do was renew some library books - some hope! Eventually figured it out - where it used to be straightforward - it's all changed and not for the better. Today I wanted to pay for my car insurance - 15 minute wait on the 'phone but I needed to use another card to pay, so said a disembodied voice 'go online it's quicker'- really? I should have known - all went well until I got to the give details of new card, whence it all went belly-up. After chatting to a bot, eventually managed to do this - took over 30 minutes buggering about. Then I thought - I know, I'll order some newly published books from said library site - some hopes! What a pile of rubbish this new system is - note to self - before attempting any engagement with computers in future - pour LARGE G&T and keep very handy, or better still bring back fountain pens and paper - GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! |
