Utter hypocrisy on display yet again from Hounslow council. This time on Allotments. “maximise their value for health and well-being, stronger communities, biodiversity and sustainable living”. So where is the sanctimonious Cllr Dunne who has put her name to such admirable statements? Yet again, this is back door ageism, not unlike several other decisions being pushed through without proper consultation or proper concern for local council taxpayers. Clearly not prepared to stand by her words. Not unlike many of her compatriots. But very disparaging all the same. Means testing over 65's? How much does that cost to do? And why? Yet another assumption that all those over 65 somehow have bottomless pockets. Not even a criteria published on what defines means testing. Where this has been tried before the parameters leave only those on maximum benefits as qualifiers and they are highly unlikely to ever be able to use an allotment or several other amenities. In other words just another way of freezing elder citizens out, like online access, making consultations full of loaded questions and ignoring anything that does not fit the predetermined policies. Through the back door with no debate on Christmas Eve? You may as well change the logo for Hounslow to one well used in Germany 80 years ago. The same methods of deception, smoke and mirrors is rather eerie. |
