Jean, to be honest I'm not sure, but I know the paper and cardboard compartments are not adjacent and the guys are under time pressure. I don't believe there is rigorous paper/cardboard separation at Southall Lane though they will I'm sure pull out any obvious concentrations. The service is still operating under considerable stress as a) with people working largely at home still the quantum of all rubbish/recycling is considerably higher than before the pandemic and b) more home deliveries mean more packaging, especially cardboard. In trying to minimise adding extra wagons and crews Recycle360 are working the existing trucks and crews harder and more flexibly. As I say, we try and avoid contamination but some is inevitable and I guess a bit of green waste is less of an issue than sellotape or half a pizza lurking inside a pizza box! |
