Paper and cardboard (and everything else we collect for recycling) is recycled. Paper has a slightly higher value than cardboard, which is why we attempt to separate them as far as practicable. Quality is very important in the recycling market and Hounslow's quality is very good because we have a rigorous approach. Plastic tape is a contaminant so we prefer not to have it, but our buyers tolerate a certain amount so we accept it. Nothing is exactly pure in recycling. Keep things dry if you can as that helps the crews and the wagons, but it's not crucial except for textiles. We cannot accept damp textiles as they tend to mildew and buyers will reject a whole container if the smallest amount of mildew is detected. |
