NV Brroks - i thank you for your support. I totally agree that any action will not affect the move of the delivery office and we already accept that. This is also a fight to highlight the issues many other workers in the country are facing these days - such as Asda staff for example. We need to show these fat cat shareholders that cutting costs on the frontline to make a quick profit will no longer be tolerated. Can you believe that in just the past few weeks RM managers have all been given a 2.6% pay rise and a £1000 bonus. Yet we've been told RM cannot afford to reduce our working week by just 1 hr - which was agreed 2 years ago. There is a Ken Loach film due out very soon called "Sorry we missed you" - it is a sad reflection of what so many workers are facing these days. As far as the planning permission was concerned - it was applied for by the current landlord and turned down. I guess he was looking to get even more for the land but will still no doubt be selling up. |
