There seems to be a lot of mis-information on this just recently. No thanks to Ruth Cadbury's recent article.

Yes the Delivery office is due to close. The landlord has increased the rent to such an absurd amount that RM have little option. The final date for closure is June 2021 unless RM chose to move before then.
Currently RM have said they are searching the area for other commercial properties but are wary of the same happening in the future.
Let's face it would RM really look to spend more money or simply move the delivery service into the mail centre at no cost?

The mail centre is located on Godfrey Way on the outskirts of Hounslow. It is exactly 4.4 miles from the current office in Brentford and nowhere near the 7 miles that have been quoted.
There is and will not be a facility to collect parcels from the mail centre. Public access would be near impossible and there is no parking outside due to the Ministry Of defence building next door.
RM's current proposal to parcel collections would be to lease a commercial property within the current local area.
deliveries to TW8 and TW7 should not change in terms of the times. Mail would already be on hand for processing, rather than as currently having to be loaded onto lorries and transported to Brentford.
The Union are fighting the move as best they can and are also actively looking for alternative local commercial properties for the office to move in to.
As many have already said this is all about the fat cat shareholders at the end of the day. RM will not be investing in buying a property - they're current mandate is to sell property to maintain those fat dividends.
I've been a postie at Brentford for nearly 16 years now. None of us want to move and see it as not only a huge inconvenience but also as yet another attack on a much needed local service.
RM staff all over the country are due to start a period of industrial action in the coming weeks. Make no mistake this isn't about pay - despite any media spin. This is simply a case of our new chairman refusing to honour existing agreements, our terms and conditions and the erosion of RM as a service. This is the fight of our lives and should we lose will see an even quicker decline in service to the public.
We don't take the decision to strike lightly - it will hit many of us hard financially and we really do not want to inconvenience the public in the lead to xmas.
Please support us - it's going to be a tough period.
