Has anybody asked for these so-called improvements? Yes - Windmill Road has narrow footways and in places they are partly obstructed by the large established trees, particularly the plane trees which must be close to 100 years old. Mothers with push chairs are possibly inconvenienced - but their children undoubtedly benefit from the improvement to the air quality that these trees bring. The width of the footways can only be increased to an appreciable degree by reducing the road carriageway width - and I'm sure nobody wants that. Save the trees - they are much more valuable to the environment and their loss doesn't constitute any sort of improvement. |
