These road decisions and CPZ s are strange indeed. The new CPZ at the maisonettes next to Syon Lane station showed the Council getting interested in the opinions of the people living there, within the proposed zone, only. If the zone were to provide all the spaces the people living there need, then that might be fair enough but the intention is to reduce the spaces available to the residents considerably and then charge for those spaces. How can that not have a severe knock on effect on the neighbouring streets, so why is their opinion not important? Why is there a need to make these zones all day restrictions when apparently the notion is to stop commuter parking and to stop illegal parking which blocks the road for rescue and recycling vehicles. An hour in the middle of the day and a fine for pavement parking would deal with this without the knock on effect on neighbouring streets. The increase in traffic because of the 'already decided' Church street closure, is having a direct affect on speeding cars all over the small roads around Isleworth, but I imagine as this was not considered before closing the road, there were no observations taken and therefore we are back to, until a child is killed there is no reason to believe the cars have moved from a polite long queue on the main roads, to cutting through all the hundreds of family homes and school routes now affected. |
