As a cyclist using that bit of road every day it seems utterly pointless and useless. A waste of money which could be better spent on cycling locally. Like for example sweeping the A4 Cycle track at least once a week as it is unrideable from the road debris on it, and enforcing keeping it clear. But If you can't ride this little bit of road safely as it is, then you ought not to be cycling at all. Spending millions on road improvements will not improve the lot for cyclists unless cyclists own riding standards improve. At both ends of the scale, there are those who have no road sense and control of a cycle and those who do no better but have no regard for road regulations. It's bad for all those who do cycle with due care. Far more dangerous is the Boston Manor road side of the A4 junction. Far too many vehicles in the right (ahead only lane) turn left to jump the queue ignoring the green zone and carving Half Acre bound cyclists ( as well as other cars. This is really prevalent here, especially at weekends. This bit really does need making safer. |
