| This seems a bit anecdotal and short on facts Philippa. I don't recall many cars racing on the road I live on, or large volumes of cars using it as a cut-through before it was blocked. The fact that fewer road journeys are being made due to post-covid work changes would seem to make the road closures much less of an issue, not more. I agree that all road users (even cyclists) should follow the rules, but we have camaras, speed-bumps etc. to help with this. Surely the point is that it should be a decision made by the people who live on these roads on whether to restrict them, not a top-down decision that ignores local views. There was a "consultation" which overwhelmingly rejected the LTNs - the issue here is that Guy Lambert and co. failed in their duty, and the DoT rules, to act on local views and imposed changes that were, and still are, massively unpopular for the majority of road users and severely impact on our daily lives. For this reason, I believe we shouldn't even consider reelecting him. |
