Agree with you absolutely Vanessa. Particularly that cyclists should have what you refer to as an 'audible warning' on their bikes. I walk down the canal towpath every afternoon with my dog and have had so many near misses with cyclists silently approaching from behind. I sometimes step to one side when walking and my dog certainly does if she smells something interesting. Cyclists appear to think we will both carry on walking in a straight line. I appreciate that the Highway Code has no influence on cyclist behaviour on canal towpaths, but just wanted to agree with you re bells on bikes.
