Hear, hear - this point has been made several times over - and on another thread on this Forum. Maybe this venture - were it to go ahead - would increase 'health and well-being' - but only for a specific section of the community, those who could afford the frankly eye watering prices. This from a supposedly Labour council is quite hypocritical - still, what's new? They need money for the upkeep of the park - we know that and get it - but there are limits as to how far councils should stoop to facilitate this. The Friends of Finsbury Park are up in arms about the extent of the events that take place there that get bigger and bigger, greed seems to take over from common sense and consideration as to the purpose that public parks were originally meant to fulfill. In the end it's not about preserving the buildings, parkland and museum at Gunnersbury it's money for money's sake. Hounslow must think we're all daft if they really think them hiding behind airy fairy statements about general health benefits to justify this big business coming into Gunnersbury is believed in the slightest.
