It just occurred to me that all the flats in the tower blocks be they in Brentford or wherever generally have some form of intercom system - and they are quite loud within the flats themselves.

How much tech would it take to link them to a fire alarm system?

If they aslo had the more modern intercom with the small tv screen it could even flash the message "FIRE ALARM" or something similar.
