I'm not disagreeing with you - however, the other side of this coin is that with the ever increasing, and year on year, massive budget cuts, local authorities are trying to dream up evermore cunning ways of getting revenue in. The obvious solution is for us all to accept that paying more tax whether it be local or national to pay for the services that we would all like, and which we once had, is the only way forward. Austerity for austerity's sake is where we are now, meanwhile the Googles and Facebooks just make sweetheart deals with HMRC to suit themselves, we really do need governments around the world to get to grip with these big corporations. The resentment of the ordinary person in the street to this favouritism and to the differences in how we are treated, and how much we all need to pay to sustain decent services cannot be underestimated. |
