The Standard story is a bit short on facts and no mention as to council involvement, tree preservation orders etc. I suspect that as there is reference to the trees being on 'an embankment' and 'self seeded' that they are Network Rail's and thus I think exempt from LA control. NR slash and burn to protect their track and if Ballymore are involved with a joint venture on railway land I can quite see such trees being cut down. Interesting to see yet more actors brought in to gain coverage. Similar to the fuss over the Oaks development in Acton a few weeks ago when local 'luvvies' were brought to the fore....
